Call for Speakers

Design Leadership Summit brings together leaders who build, manage, scale design teams and help foster a culture of design within their organizations. Once again, we’re looking for a diverse set of design and product leaders to share experiences from their leadership journey – both good and bad, no holds barred.

Design Leadership Summit 2019 will feature:

  • 500+ attendees
  • 8-10 full length sessions (30 minutes each, no Q&A)
  • 6 lightning talks (10-15 minutes each, no Q&A)
  • 2 keynotes (45-60 minutes each, inclusive of any panel discussions)
  • 4 workshops (45-120 minutes each, hands-on with Q&A)

Speaker Perks

  • Speakers will receive free admission into the summit as well as all activities, including workshops, afterparty, and speaker reception.
  • Audience feedback post-event (we’ll openly share any feedback about your talk with you in the hopes of contributing to more success in your future)
  • 2 nights of accommodation in Toronto, Canada and economy airfare* for speakers who aren’t travelling on a corporate budget or organization sponsorship.
    *Up to $500 USD for domestic flights and up to $1,000 USD for international flights. Our events team will reach out to help book flights or set up reimbursements once your talk is confirmed. You can also opt-out and donate to our scholarship fund.

Proposal deadline is Sunday, September 15, 2019. Successful applicants will receive a reply by Sunday, September 29.

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of design leaders and advisors from various backgrounds, then rated anonymously based on the criteria listed below. Optionally disclosed speaker details will be considered to ensure diversity in the lineup.

We encourage people of colour, women, veterans, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and any other historically underserved groups to attend and apply to speak. If you have any suggestions on how we could improve our diversity and inclusion efforts, please share your feedback in the last section of the application.

What We’re Looking for

We’re looking for content that shows and educates — not tells and sells. Talks can be composed of deep dives, case studies, and specific examples. If you’ve got a captivating story of interest for design leaders in attendance, we would love to have you! These are some of suggested themes:
